If you haven’t heard yet, there’s a lot of hype about a new app called HQ. I was skeptical at first (as I often am), because the app is a way to win real cash just for playing trivia. I thought it would make sense for me to check it out to make sure it isn’t a scam. What a blast! It is a great way to shake off the brain cell dust and see how quickly you can respond to rapid fire questioning. Oh, and, did I say there is money to be won?
The concept of this app is really cool and will eventually be a great app. This is not an app you can use all the time to earn cash. Set a reminder on your smartphone for 3 pm and 9 pm EST. These are the times that the app is live and the games begin.
Although the app is legitimate, don’t expect to use it without any issues or headaches. It is just like any other app in that it comes with both pros and cons. If you really like trivia and want the chance to win cash, this app is worth joining.
How Does The HQ Trivia App Work?
1) Sign-Up For Free
2) Wait For Trivia Games To Start.
As I mentioned above, The HQ Trivia app is live, so you have to log in at certain times to get to play and have a chance to win. Those times are every day at 3 pm & 9 pm EST. I recommend allowing the app to send you push notifications so that you receive a reminder when the trivia is about to start. When you log into the app, you can see when the next trivia is scheduled and how much money is in the pot. You can also get an idea of how many people are playing at that time.
3) Answer Questions. Get 12 Right To Win!
Once the trivia game starts, there are 12 live questions, given one at a time. If you get a question right, you move on to the next round. If you miss the question, the game is over for you, and you’ll have to wait until the next game. You can, however, stay tuned in to watch the rest of the game. The easiest questions come first and they get progressively harder. Each question has 3 multiple choice answers to choose from. You have 10 seconds to submit your answer. So, there is no time to quickly Google for the answer!
4) Refer Friends to Earn Free Lives.
If you want to increase your chance of winning, you’ll want to earn some free lives. To earn free lives, you need to refer friends. For every friend you refer, you’ll earn a free life. Free lives can be used once per trivia game and basically gives you a pass when you miss a question. My code is jaycegirl, if you want to sign up with my reference number. I need all the lives I can get!
5) Get Paid
To win, you’ll need to get 12 questions right. You’ll then split the pot with all of the other winners. Once you earn $20, you can get paid directly to your PayPal account. You will need to have an account balance of $20 before you can get paid.
6). Are there any special games?
HQ has been trying new types of games, including a recent battle royale where the game kept going until one person won. Additionally, a recent sponsorship with Nike led to a larger jackpot and winners receiving HQ-themed Nike Air Maxes.
HQ Trivia: The Down Side
By far the biggest complaint with HQ is that the app just can’t handle how many people are trying to use the app. Word about the app is spreading quickly which means that more and more people join. This may cause you to be kicked out during the live competitions. Hopefully, the app programmers are working to improve this.
Reviews on the Host Are Mixed
The live trivia app is hosted by Scott Rogowsky. Some people find him annoying but I would say that most believe he is a breakout star. Many HQ app aficionados are endeared to him and are fiercely loyal. On the occasion when a substitute host appears, the chat that scrolls beneath the game erupts in displeasure: “NOOOO.” ” “Free Scott.” “#NOTMYHOST.” Dial in and decide for yourself!
