I’m CC, a grandmother who is on a quest for lifelong learning, communication, and networking. The concept for this blog came from a 4-year old. An inquisitive 4-year old. A persistent 4-year old. A 4-year old who would not take no for an answer when she asked me, multiple times, why I never wore hairbows. Every female she knows (in her age group) wears them and the secret of why her own grandmother did not is one that she was determined to have answered. As I reflected on her question, the answer was simple. Change. The truth is that wearing a hair bow at my age would require me to step out of my comfort zone…WAY OUT OF MY COMFORT ZONE. But, it is also true that every time I have stepped outside of my comfort zone, wonderful things have happened in my life. Personal growth, spiritual growth, intellectual growth…all of these have come from stretching myself beyond that which feels comfortable and safe.
I decided to use the hair bow challenge as a way to remind myself that I should always seek ways to step outside of my comfort zone. To be a student of constant learning. To grow. To change. To evolve during a time in my life where one would think that evolution is not possible. So, my challenge to all of you is to be a change agent, a relevance seeker. Stay current. Energize by learning. This blog is a work in progress and will always be. Because I am learning. Because I am growing. Because I am stretching myself as a human being to seek a higher ground.
I hope that you will come along for the journey. The bows signify something different to each individual. Your bow may mean that you have embraced a major life change, such as retirement. Your bow may mean that you have committed yourself to learning something new. Your bow may mean that you have made a personal commitment to be your best and authentic self. Whatever the bow means to you, the important thing is that it signifies that you are stepping outside of your comfort zone and embracing new personal growth. #embracethebows
